Rodrigo de Oliveira is a research scientist at Telefonica Research in Barcelona, Spain. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and his main research interests lie at the union between human-computer interaction and persuasive computing. Rodrigo combines these areas to design and evaluate computing solutions that overcome information overload, improve the users' experience of their daily activities, and support people in achieving their goals. His research interests include ubiquitous and mobile computing, user modeling, e-health, e-learning, and multimedia systems.
Rodrigo was certified with the highest GPA of Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) in 2002. Five years later he was awarded with the Microsoft Research fellowship and did an internship at Microsoft Research in Redmond, USA. In 2009, he was featured as one of Microsoft's most talented fellows worldwide. Later that year he was awarded with the Torres Quevedo fellowship to conduct his research agenda on human-computer persuasive interaction. His work has been featured in books, scientific journals, international conferences, newspapers and TV newscasts.
As a musician, Rodrigo attended a few contests and recorded some of his compositions. He now lives in Barcelona with his wife Suzana and baby Lara.
