Good video... but those archaeologists deserve the Oscar for Ritual Hallucination. 

Why on Earth would those Neolithic people get the idea that making hundreds of plates with those drawings would bring back the sun?

The only reason why the authors conjectured that those plaques are "bring back the sun offerings" is that someone had previously called those drawings "sun motifs" (which was already a major hallucination).  If those patterns had instead been called "spiderweb motifs" (which seems a more apt description), should we conjecture that the disks were offerings to bring spiders back?

Here is an alternative theory. The disks are utilitarian artifacts that were "invented" in the last stage of the local Funnel Beaker culture, and every household had one.  They could be graters, hide scrapers, pans for baking pancakes, whatever.  The cold snap forced the Funnel Beaker people to abandon the site, leaving most of their sedentary stuff behind.  When the climate recovered, a different population took over the site. Since the newcomers had no use for those utensils, they dumped all of them into the landfill.
