but who cares about the truth in this community? :P
hehehehe.. Your reputation precedes you, Jorge.... :D
"Care about the truth" is not "believe what I say". It means "do not repeat a lie just because it sounds good". It means getting to the bottom of issues, rather than stopping when you feel that further information would spoil the marketing. For example, the other day someone claimed on Coindesk that bitcoin has already already surpassed Paypal in volume of e-payments. It turns out that the author was taking the blockchain transaction volume as the volume of e-payments in bitcoin. Of course no Coindesk reader would bother correct such a sweet lie. No one seems to want to know how much bitcoin is really being used for e-payments. Much less who is using it (old-timers v. new users) and for what (e-commerce, day-trading, gambling, illegal drugs, ...). I would think that you traders, with thousands of dollars on the line, would prefer to know the truth, rather than sales hype. As to why I am still around, I suppose it is mostly stubborness at this point. Perhaps, in spite of my efforts to be a good ex-Christian, also for the sadistic pleasure of watching all who insulted me agonize about the falling price, and eventually realize that they spent all their their savings to pay for the Winklevosses' designer suits and the wine and cigars of @rpietila's Banquets for The Smart Guys. By the way, I must confess that, so far, my crusade to warn my compatriots about bitcoin has been an embarrassing failure. Everybody I have talked to on this topic was already way more skeptical than myself. All I could do was to give them a few more arguments to be skeptical --- which they listened to only out of politeness, because they had quite made up their mind already. Perhaps the problem is that all those guys were quite a bit smarter than I am. The only exception is a young "anarcho-capitalist" fellow who keeps insulting me on twitter, still totally convinced that bitcoin will let him buy illegal drugs with safety. (You should be grateful to have at least one sample of a stubborn skeptic in this thread to balance the hype of the used bitcoin salesmen. If you dont't have at least a bit of fear, uncertainty and doubt, what you have is religion, not science...)
