Ethics and AI in the classroom: Experience report with the AI-Audit game in Computer Science courses

Extended

This article presents an experience report of the application of the AI-Audit game in three courses offered by the Institute of Computing at UNICAMP. The game presents examples of AI systems, whose use has proliferated in society, along with the risks they can cause and examples of practices to mitigate these risks. The application of AI-Audit showed us that it is possible to stimulate discussions about ethics and AI in a playful way. The game reinforced knowledge previously learned in the classroom and contributed to the teaching of still unknown risks, indicating its educational potential. However, limitations in the design and mechanics of the game impacted its effectiveness in building critical thinking on the subject.
