The Araceli Project has just released a promotional video that presents its work and mission.
Araceli Cabrera Crespo was only 8 years old when, in 1973, she was the victim of a brutal crime that remains unpunished. Today, her name inspires Araceli Project, a network of researchers and institutions joining forces to combat abuse against children and adolescents.
The initiative brings together researchers from universities in Brazil and abroad, in partnership with the Federal Police and the São Paulo Scientific and Technical Police, as well as with institutions dedicated to child protection. The project is currently funded by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) and FAEPEX/UNICAMP.
With already consolidated results, the Araceli Project has, in addition to scientific publications, two awards of academic recognition in human rights, from the Vladimir Herzog Institute, in addition to technological tools that today are in use by the Federal Police, assisting in the investigation of digital crimes.
Academic institutions involved:
* Institute of Computing of the State University of Campinas (IC/UNICAMP)
* Department of Computer Science of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (DCC/UFMG)
* Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences of the University of São Paulo (ICMC/USP)
