Section IV - Using Studies

Article 61 - The use of studies may be authorized provided that it is characterized as equivalence between Unicamp subjects or between Unicamp subjects and those taken at other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

§ 1 - At the time of enrollment, the disciplines taken at Unicamp prior to the current entry will be automatically recognized by the Academic Board, including those with a formal declaration of equivalence and are part of the current full curriculum. The student may request the Academic Board not to use electives.

§ 2 - In the case of courses previously taken at other HEIs, as well as courses at Unicamp that do not have a formal declaration of equivalence, the application must be submitted by the student to the Academic Board during the first semester of his current admission at Unicamp. Such request must be judged by the Undergraduate Coordinators responsible for the disciplines involved and responsible for the student's course.

NOTE: Article 61 and its paragraphs contain the wording approved by Resolution Consu-A-1, of 27/05/2009.

Article 62 - The use of studies in disciplines can be granted as long as there is similarity between the programs and workload compatibility, according to article 27, items I to IV.

§ 1 - When the number of hours attended is less than 50% (fifty percent) of the workload of the discipline whose equivalence is intended, the use cannot be granted.

§ 2 - When the number of hours taken is equal to or greater than 50% (fifty percent) and less than 75% (seventy-five percent) of the workload of the discipline whose equivalence is intended, the student is required to pass an exam evaluation.

§ 3 - Even if there is similarity between the programs and the number of hours taken is equal to or greater than 75% (seventy-five percent) of the discipline's workload, whose equivalence is intended, the Course Coordinator responsible for the discipline may require the student passing an assessment exam.

§ 4 - The assessment exam in the discipline whose equivalence is intended is carried out on a date established by the Undergraduate Coordination and must not exceed the next period set in the School Calendar for the exams.

§ 5 - The student must be informed in writing of the date set for the assessment exam, at the Academic Directorate or at the course secretary in the case of campuses outside Campinas.

§ 6 - In case of use of studies granted between Unicamp disciplines not declared as equivalent and without an evaluation exam, the use will be considered as a Curricular Change, which must be approved by the Congregations of the Teaching Units responsible for them.

The student has a Progression Coefficient greater than or equal to 0,2;

The student must previously submit to the Undergraduate Coordination of his course a justification of his request and study plan containing a program of all the disciplines he intends to take at the Institution, workload and evaluation criteria.

The Undergraduate Coordinator of the student's course, approves the request after consulting the Coordinators responsible for Unicamp's disciplines, which will be considered equivalent to those taken at another institution.

§ 1 - If the request has been approved, it is up to the Undergraduate Coordination to immediately forward it to the Academic Board, attaching its favorable opinion.

§ 2 - Upon presentation, by the student, of proof of approval in the discipline (s) contained in the application, the Academic Board will record the use of studies in their academic record as the subject of Unicamp considered equivalent.

§ 3 - The student will be able to take advantage of the discipline (s) taken at the Institutions up to the limit of 25% of the total credits necessary for the completion of their course.
