Brief summary
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to promote environmental protection, inclusive economic growth and social inclusion. Universities are called to participate in this global effort and are expected to contribute solutions to sustainability challenges and provide sustainable campuses. Given this scenario, the main objectives of this work are fourfold: i) to create a definition of a smart university; ii) to illustrate how universities could contribute to the 2030 Agenda through smart university solutions based on technologies such as the Internet of Things and Big Data; iii) to implement a framework for automatically collecting data to generate and manage sustainability indicators at the university; and iv) to implement a simulator for green smart campus systems that allows an adequate estimation of the necessary information and communication infrastructure.
