META-DISCLAIMER

Several people have told me that a Dean should not have such weird, silly, and irreverent homepages as mine. However, most of them were written when I was a plain faculty member; and I still I feel that they are quite appropriate as such. It would not be honest to hide those texts in order to pretend to be a more conventional and "politically correct" person than I really am.

Moreover, the University is supposed to be a place where people think and express themselves freely, as their reasoning and conscience leads them to: with due respect to the law, ethics, and public interest, sure, but without institutional censorship or worries about corporative image. This freedom is one of the main reasons why I chose an academic career; and I am not willing to give it up for such a trivial reason.
