*Project Title* Extending the 5S formalism to Describe Image Digital Libraries *Project Description* The 5S framework includes a set of concepts used to define formally a digital library. The main constructs are: streams (sequences of elements of an arbitrary type), structures (organizational schemes, including data structures, databases, and knowledge representations), spaces (for 2D and 3D interfaces, GIS data, and representations of documents and queries), scenarios (system states and events), and societies (sets of entities and the relationships among them). Based on these constructs, other key digital libraries concepts were defined, facilitating the modeling, generation, and evaluation of DLs. This project aims to extend the 5S digital library formal framework for describing services based on image content description. *Language/technology skills* *Number of People* 1-2 *Project Resources* 1.
