      Some algorithms have been proposed to the problem of thinning 3D
      binary images. These algorithms use homotopic removal of points
      to achieve an skeleton whose structure preserves the topology of
      the original image. This work deals with technics for the
      optimization of such algorithms. Briefly, we present two methods
      that avoid unnecessary topology checking of the image points,
      leading to less time consuming sequential thinning.
