Computer forensics is an area of research that seeks to investigate solutions to problems related to the collection, organization, classification and analysis of digital evidences. Regarding the collection and organization, we are looking for approaches to reduce erroneous and naive use of possible important evidence. With regard to classification, we seek solutions to categorize evidence to reduce the technical effort required for analysis. Finally, in relation to the analysis, the objective is to investigate the originating source of a document and its authenticity. In identifying the originating source, we seek to identify the particular model of a capture device (e.g. scanner, camera, printer), or the exact device that made the capture of a document. In detecting manipulation, we seek to establish the authenticity of a document or expose any manipulations that may have suffered.
