This talk about the importance of increasing research activity
around natural user interactions or NUI. At Microsoft External
Research we are working to identify the key areas that will bring
about the best long term change to facilitate, improve and enhance
human computing interactions whether they are for education,
information worker, home use, scientific discovery or some
combination thereof. We see this as a long term goal that will
require increased activity in user study, infrastructure and
hardware/software development as it cuts across our other research
initiatives. The talk will center on collated feedback received from
industry, academia, and perceived user needs, mainly in the
scientific community.
